Bow Hold Set-up
Setting up a bow hold takes practice. If you are struggling to remember what to do, click the links below to view two videos (each taken from a slightly different angle) for a refresher.

The parent setting up the hold should place the bow in the child's right hand. The bottom of the bow's frog should face the parent, and the tip of the bow should point the the left. The child's middle finger touches the bow hair just above the the silver ring (also called the ferrule) and half of the top portion (above the first joint) of the middle finger should be exposed: "a half moon showing." Bring the bow to vertical and have the child place the thumb on the wood between the black leather grip and the top of the frog (this is a little hard to see in the video, because there is a tan rubber grip on this bow- on your child's bow, we may have placed a colored grip to guide the thumb); look for a flexible "peak" in the thumb (doorbell thumb) and a "mouse house" (space) between the thumb and palm.
